Gedeb Banko Taratu is located in the southern part of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Gedeb District. It is one of the highest elevated coffee-growing areas in Ethiopia (1950-2300m) where this coffee is grown and handpicked. The variety of this coffee is Indigenous Heirloom. In Banko Taratu, coffee is grown near the farmers' homes and on small plots of land with natural fertilizers. Coffee is very important to the community and Banko Taratu is home for many coffee farmers. 

After harvest, the cherries first goes through a pulp machine to brush the skin off. Next they are steeped in fresh spring water for 24-48 hours, for wet fermentation to eliminate remnants of mucilage. The coffee is shade-dried for a few days until it reaches 30% moisture content, then sun dried to 11% on raised beds.
